Travel to Great Britain & Ireland

About our group trips to the British Isles

The British Isles is a collective name for Great Britain, Ireland and a number of smaller islands, including the Isle of Man and the Hebrides. When people talk about Great Britain, they usually refer to the four regions: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is part of Great Britain, but is actually located on the same island as the Republic of Ireland. The area offers a mix of history, culture and scenic environments. There is everything from London's vibrant city life to Scotland's mountainous views, plus Ireland's rolling, green countryside. Here you will find old castles, lively pubs and quite a few sheep. Many people travel here to see classic sights in London, discover the nature of Scotland or hike among the green hills of Ireland. No matter what you are looking for, there are trips to the British Isles to suit most interests. The trips we offer combine comfortable hotels, thoughtful schedules and guided excursions that make the experience smooth.

Scotland

Travel to Scotland

Scotland is truly a country that feels like it's taken straight out of a fairy tale sometimes. There are mountains everywhere, deep valleys where the mist lingers in the morning and lakes that sparkle. Something that not everyone knows is that the unicorn is actually Scotland's national animal! It stands for strength and pride. A little quirky, but also quite charming nonetheless. Cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow really have a nice mix of everything. Beautiful old buildings, a lot of history and then a pretty intense city life with pubs, street music, small shops. Scotland is the kind of destination where you can hike out into nature one day and step into a museum or castle the next. And that's pretty wonderful, especially if you like a bit of both.

Camden Market in London

Travel to London

London is one of the most visited cities on earth. It offers everything from history and culture to the pulse of a big city. Just take the classics like Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and Trafalgar Square; it almost feels like you're stumbling across sights wherever you go. For those who enjoy shopping, there are plenty of opportunities, and if you're interested in theatre or music, it can almost be overwhelming. There's always something big going on, such as ABBA Voyage. Another thing worth mentioning is the city's different areas, which really have their own identities. Soho is modern, while Westminster breathes history and classic buildings. It feels like each district is its own little world. London is easy to adapt to, whether you just have a quick weekend or you're staying a little longer to experience more. It's a place that offers experiences for almost everyone.

Big Ben in London

What is Big Ben?

Big Ben is actually the name of the massive bell in the tower, although most people usually refer to the entire clock tower when they mention it. The tower itself, however, is formally called the Elizabeth Tower, and stands at the Palace of Westminster in the middle of London. It has stood there since the mid-19th century and has become a kind of symbol of both the city and Britain in general. You can hear that characteristic sound from the clock, every hour on the hour. The area around the tower is usually bustling with people, and it is one of the most popular places to visit for tourists. No wonder, really, considering it is so close to the Thames and several of the city's other famous attractions.

Ireland

Travel to Ireland

Ireland is not called the green island for nothing. As soon as you arrive, you are met by green fields that seem to never end. There are those dramatic cliffs that plunge straight into the sea, and such small, cozy villages. Irish life rolls on in its own way, with old castles here and there, and you can often hear someone playing the violin or singing a tune in a pub. Dublin is a capital with a vibe, no question about it. Pubs are everywhere and it is often lively inside. And St. Patrick's Day... yes, it is absolutely the big thing of the year. March 17th is a party just about everywhere. Everyone is wearing something green - even houses and bridges get a splash of the color. There are parades, music and happy people just about everywhere. It feels like the whole country goes out at the same time, both those who live there and all the tourists who want to experience the madness.

Football in England

Watch football in England

In England, football is an important part of everyday life. Matches are talked about at the breakfast table, in the pub, and even the bus driver keeps track of the latest results. The Premier League is a big league, attracting people from every corner of the world. You notice it especially when big teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea are playing. There is something special about actually going to a match in England. That is, standing there in the middle of the crowd, hearing everyone singing (and sometimes roaring a little too loudly), and feeling your pulse rise when the referee blows the whistle. The temperature in the stands is completely different in reality, it is almost impossible to describe in words. Whether you are a hardcore supporter who knows every player by heart or if you are just a little curious and want to try something new on the trip, a football trip to England is really fun.

Tips for your trip to the British Isles

As a traveler to the UK, you need to arrange an ETA, an electronic travel authorization, before you set off. It's easy to forget among everything else that needs to be fixed, but it's necessary. As for the weather - the British climate is basically quite mild, but the weather can change quite quickly and unexpectedly. One minute it's sunny, the next it's pouring rain. It's wise to pack both an umbrella and a light jacket in your bag, just in case. How does public transport work? Especially in the larger cities, there are plenty of buses, metro and trains that make it easier for you to explore the area. So, getting around is rarely a big problem. Regardless of whether you're most passionate about city life, nature experiences or British culture, there's always something interesting to discover on the British Isles.
