Which countries are included in the Middle East?

The Middle East is an area that spans several countries in Western Asia. Some of them are Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Yemen, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. The Middle East has played an important role throughout history, especially when it comes to trade, religion, and culture. In fact, people have lived and done business here for thousands of years. Today, there is much to discover in the region, both in terms of ancient sights and well-known historical sites but also modern cities. It is a bit of a mix – old meets new, you could say.

Buildings in Dubai

Travel to Dubai

Dubai has become something of a symbol of luxury and exclusivity worldwide, and many people associate the city with top-class shopping. Another thing you notice is the city's tall skyscrapers and modern architecture. But it's not just the buildings that attract people here. It's everything from the enormous shopping malls and restaurants on almost every corner, to adventurous activities out in the desert. It's clear that Dubai is investing in modern gastronomy; you can easily find everything, from classic international cuisine to more niche, local dishes. And of course, certain trends have emerged that have been given their own names, such as Dubai chocolate. All in all, the city gives a slightly special mix of the modern and the traditional.

Petra in Jordan

Petra in Jordan

Petra in Jordan is one of the most iconic places on earth and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ancient city is carved into pink rock and was built over 2,000 years ago by the Nabataeans. The most famous building is Al-Khazneh, better known as the Treasury, which welcomes visitors as they walk through the narrow Siq gorge. Petra is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and one of the Middle East's top attractions.

Dead Sea

Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is one of the world's most unique places and is located on the border between Jordan and Israel. It is known for its extremely salty water, which means you can easily float on its surface. The high salt content means that no fish, plants or other living organisms can survive there. The area is also located at the lowest point on land on Earth. In addition to the special bathing experience, the area is known for its mineral-rich mud that can be used in skin care. A visit to the Dead Sea combines nature experience with relaxation.

Nature in Oman

Oman Travel

Oman is a country where the nature of the Middle East really takes center stage. You are met with striking desert areas, mountains, vast coastlines and old cities filled with history. Much has been said about Omani hospitality and it is rare for anyone to leave the country without having experienced it. Anyone who travels to Oman can count on adventure, perhaps a hike among the sand dunes or a visit to one of the many traditional markets. It is precisely the interplay between nature, history and that leisurely pace that makes a trip to Oman special.

Tips for your trip to the Middle East

It is important to consider the climate when visiting the Middle East, so pack light clothing, sunscreen and drink plenty of water. In some countries, it may be a good idea to wear more covering clothing when visiting religious sites. Visa regulations and any entry requirements should be checked well in advance of your departure. In many countries, cash is still common, although cards are accepted in most major cities. It is also good to show respect for local traditions and customs. With the right arrangements, you will have a memorable and safe trip to the Middle East.
