Travel to the Nordic countries

About our group trips to the Nordic countries

The Nordic region is a region that has a rather special mix of nature experiences, culture and vibrant city life. The area includes Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, of course, but also places like Åland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. There really is everything from archipelagos and open coastal stretches to mountains, glaciers and big cities like Stockholm and Oslo. Are you attracted by the dramatic landscapes of Iceland? Or do you prefer a more urban holiday? There are actually many choices when it comes to travel in the Nordic region.

Which countries are included in the Nordic region?

The Nordic region comprises five independent countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. In addition to these, self-governing areas such as the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland are also included. Although the Nordic region has a common history, each country has managed to preserve its unique culture and its own traditions. It is fascinating how both the similarities and differences have been allowed to exist side by side. The Nordic region is often associated with a high standard of living, a beautiful natural environment and a rich cultural heritage.

What is the difference between the Nordic countries and Scandinavia?

It happens quite often that the terms Nordic and Scandinavia are confused, but they are actually not completely interchangeable. Scandinavia refers to Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Just the three countries, that is. When talking about the Nordic countries, however, Finland and Iceland are also included, plus areas such as the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland. The Nordic countries therefore cover a slightly larger geographical area.

Gotland and Öland

Two of Sweden's most popular summer destinations are Gotland and Öland. Gotland attracts visitors with its Medieval Week, along with its raukas and beaches. The raukas are limestone formations shaped by the sea and wind over thousands of years and are one of the island's most famous attractions. There are also historical sites such as Birka and other attractions that reflect Sweden's history. Öland is known for its long white beaches and camping opportunities. Both islands offer a relaxed holiday atmosphere and are a perfect destination for summer trips.

Discover the diversity of the Nordic region

The Nordic region is truly an area where you can find everything. It's quite amazing how the contrasts between nature and city change from place to place. If you travel to the Faroe Islands or Iceland , you are immediately met by a landscape that almost feels like something out of a fairy tale. Denmark and Finland have taken on a slightly different role. There, the focus often ends up on life in the cities, with museums, art and places like Legoland and Tivoli. Norway and Greenland, on the other hand, often attract with their incredibly powerful landscapes. The fjords, the mountains and the glaciers. Whether you long for the big city pace of Stockholm or if you would rather pull on your boots and go hiking in Norway, there is always something new to discover in the Nordic region.

Holidays in Sweden

Sometimes you almost forget how much fun there is to do in Sweden. It doesn't always have to be the worst trip abroad, but sometimes a quick little excursion, or a mini-vacation just a few miles from home, is enough. There are so many places to discover. In Gränna you can actually try making your own candy canes. And it's kind of a cozy feeling to try out some really old craft. Then we have Stockholm where you can wander around the streets and enjoy the capital's big city pulse, but at the same time be close to Lake Mälaren and nature. Or maybe you want to go on a cruise ? Sometimes you don't need much more than a small change in environment. Just getting away for a while, seeing something new, can be more uplifting than you think.
