Ireland on the map

Ireland is located west of Great Britain and is part of the British Isles. The country's capital, Dublin, is located on the east coast on the River Liffey and is often the starting point for trips to Ireland from Sweden. From here it is easy to travel on to, among others, Wicklow, Waterford, Kilkenny, Galway, Kerry and Cork.

The island's west coast is known for some of Ireland's most famous natural attractions, including the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara and the Aran Islands. In the north, Belfast, Derry and the Giant's Causeway await, while the south and south-east of Ireland offer coastal towns, gardens, historic castles and scenic country roads.

Practical map and travel facts

  • Capital: Dublin.
  • Flights: Flights to Dublin or another Irish airport often take around 2–3 hours from Scandinavia, depending on departure location and route.
  • Distance: Ireland is easy to discover by bus, but the landscape makes the journey itself a big part of the experience.
  • Power sockets: Ireland uses type G power sockets, so an adapter is needed for Swedish plugs.
