The Timeless Egypt – From the Pyramids to the Nile

Africa has a varied climate, influenced by the continent's large area and proximity to the equator. In large parts of Africa it is warm all year round, but the climate varies greatly between different areas. Around the equator there is a tropical climate with high humidity and regular rainy seasons. Further away from the equator the climate becomes drier, and in some parts of Africa there are large desert areas with very little rain. Altitude also affects the climate, which means that some areas can be cooler despite being close to the equator.
The weather in Africa is usually warm and sunny, but can vary greatly depending on where you travel. In Egypt and Morocco it is often dry and hot with lots of sunshine, while Kenya and Tanzania have a more tropical climate with both sunshine and rainy periods. In South Africa there are more distinct seasons and the weather can change. Although many areas have stable weather for much of the year, temperatures can change rapidly depending on the season and location.
