Lake Garda is located in northern Italy, between the regions of Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige. The lake stretches from the alpine surroundings in the north down to gentler hills, vineyards and historic towns in the south. Its location makes Lake Garda an excellent starting point for excursions to, for example, Verona, Trento, Valpolicella and several of Northern Italy's most interesting areas.
The map clearly shows how the northern part of the lake is surrounded by steep mountains, while the southern part is wider and more open. This means that trips to Lake Garda can include dramatic views, lakeside walks, boat trips, wine country and city visits all in the same trip.
