Overnight nicely at a nice hotel in Cairo.
Around lunchtime, we dine at a local Egyptian restaurant.
In the afternoon, we visit the Egyptian Museum, which houses a vast collection of antiquities from the pharaonic era – one of Cairo’s greatest attractions. The museum contains over 120,000 rare artifacts, from gilded coffins and burial masks to mummies, statues, and papyrus. A particular highlight is Tutankhamun’s golden treasure, offering a breathtaking insight into royal splendor and mystery from antiquity. The museum is an unforgettable journey back into the realm of the pharaohs.
We end the day at the colorful Khan el-Khalili market, where the narrow streets and small shops bustle with life. Here we enjoy a cup of tea or Egyptian coffee. The market is a sensory adventure, where the aromas of spices, perfumes, and freshly baked bread mix with the sounds of bargaining and the blacksmith’s hammer. Here you can buy everything from handmade brass and jewelry to textiles and souvenirs – the perfect place to experience Cairo as in the tales of 1001 Nights.

After breakfast, we visit the West Bank of Luxor, where we see the famous Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon. The Valley of the Kings is a majestic and mythical burial site, where pharaohs such as Tutankhamun rest in beautifully decorated tombs. Stepping into these chambers, the wall paintings and hieroglyphs open a portal to ancient Egypt’s visions of the afterlife. The Colossi of Memnon stand as timeless guardians, each over 18 meters high. They once guarded the entrance to Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple and still bear the dignity of former royal splendor.
We return to the ship and have lunch before sailing towards Edfu.
