We now have a few days to discover the city where all roads lead. Rome has many impressive sights from different eras, and there are many interesting museums to discover. Cafés, restaurants, wine bars and ice cream parlors abound. Strolling through the picturesque alleys in the center is one of the coziest things you can do, but the city also has a wide range of shopping options with everything from small specialty shops to large department stores.
During the day, together with our local guide, we will take a tour with several photo stops at attractions such as the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. We finish at the beautiful Baroque square Piazza Navona.
The evening is then free for your own activities.
After breakfast we leave our hotel and travel towards Sorrento. On the way we visit Pompeii, where we take a tour with a local guide. The city was buried under ash and pumice from the eruptionof Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and was only re-discovered in 1748 when excavations began. During these excavations archaeologists have uncovered streets, houses and temples.
After the visit we continue towards Sorrento, which is located on the Bay of Naples with beautiful views of the sea. Here we check into our hotel Art Hotel Gran Paradiso.
We then visit the picturesque town of Amalfi, once a powerful maritime republic. Here we have time for lunch and for a visit to the famous cathedral on our own. In the afternoon we enjoy a boat trip from Amalfi to Maiori where your bus will be waiting to pick you up and continue the excursion back to the hotel.
Dinner in the evening at the hotel.
