Climate and weather in Greece

What is the climate like in Greece?

The climate in Greece is a typical Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cool winters. Spring and autumn have milder temperatures and more varied weather, which is good for excursions and city walks. Winters are generally mild, but in the northern parts of the country and in mountainous areas it can be colder with both rain and snow. The large number of hours of sunshine makes Greece a popular travel destination for much of the year.

What is the weather like in Greece?

During the summer months there is often a lot of sunshine and temperatures can rise above 30 degrees. Along the coasts the heat is often felt more pleasant thanks to cooling winds from the sea. During spring and autumn the weather is milder and more varied, with occasional rainy days but still plenty of sunshine.
